A cold get together

Last night I met up with Amy and Stef for a run down on the river walk and through downtown. It was cold. The wind was whipping through like a lawyer in a trailer park. Amy made the comment several times about "We must be hard core for being out here". I was thinking about that statement all night long.

Looking back I really needed to hear Amy make that statement. It made me realize that I am not hardcore but someone who just likes to get out with others runners and just run. Not for any distance nor any speed records but just to go run. I had a ball.

Lately I have been looking into the Team in Training program and I like it. It is a program that helps other runners and athletes to finish a training program to finish certain races. While running with Stef last night, I made the statement about I like to run and would love to maybe one day be in the situation to help others. I have had so many people help me so far and would love to pass on the same help to others.

I really needed the run last night. It was nice showing Stef around Macon through the river walk and downtown. I was explaining to her that it is really nice to run through downtown Macon at night. It is not bad and it is really nice during the spring time. Everything is in bloom and you can run past the local restaurants and smell the wonderful food. One of the places we went past was the Nu Way. That is when Stef told me that she has never been there. I thought this was crazy. Everyone has eaten there, I thought. We kept running and talking about food and before I realized it, we had finished up over 6 miles.

I am looking forward to more runs with the attitude of just going running. I enjoy going out and logging in the miles but not going out with the possibility of going home in pain. I have heard so many runners lately that have participated in track workouts that are now paying the price with injuries. Not me. I like being able to get up in the morning and not hurting. I am having some issues with my left foot but I am sure it will pass. If not I will find out what it is after Snickers :o)

Maybe tonight I will go out for some easy miles and just enjoy life. Until then, log in the miles and love life.

Logging miles and loving life... That might need to be a new motto!

Yup I enjoyed last night as well. It was great running with friends and as funny as it sounds, it is nice to know that I can "hang" with you and Amy running wise.

I have fought injuries quite a bit but theres something still that compels me to get out there and go for it. Having running partners is awesome. I'm just now developing mine. Happy running. Come join my group. I'd like a third friend.
