I never thought it would happen to me

As I started out on this journey to run 6 marathons in 6 months, I never thought it would come down to having to run a 10 min mile in a complete marathon. I usually run a marathon to finish and have fun but today we had to race the weather. Guess what, the weather won.

As we hit mile 12, one of the race officials stepped out in the crowd and announced that they were shutting down the course. We were told to finish the half course and proceed to get our finishers medal of the marathon course.

Melissa and I were on track for about a 5:30 pace today and feeling great. The course had some great hills and downhills. We were rocking with the bands and ready to do the complete race. I was so disappointed to see them cut it short. When we finished and got our medals, the bottom started to fall out with rain and lightening. We are now under a tornado watch.

Well I am turning in and will report more later.

Almost done

When I started this challenge I never thought I was going to be able to finish. I have always been one to start things and never finish. I usually try and do things that I can finish in a short time frame. Not 6 months. This is the longest journey I have ever gone on before. I am so close and it will come to an end this Sat. around 2 p.m.

More to come later as I get a chance to set a record for myself by raising my MM status from bronze to silver but most of all I get a chance to pace a friend so that she will break a sub 6 marathon for her first time. WOW we both get rewards in one day. I can wait.

A Time For Prayer

Normally I would posting about missing a marathon under 5 hours or training for my tri, but today it is different. I go everyday and take things for granted. Well all do. We wake up and think well this is just going to be another day. Blah,Blah,Blah.

Well I have a friend of mine that I work with who needs a lot of prayers right now. He name is Bill Pruitt. Bill works with me at Mid Ga. Ambulance and used to be my road partner at work. His son, Zack who is only 14, was diagnosed with brain tumors back in Sept of last year. He started treatments of chemo/radiation and was doing somewhat better. Well he went for a follow up and disaster hit. He was given the news that it is going to be fatal. The doctors don't know exactly how long he has but it is not long.

Bill ran with me at the Inagural ING 13.1 with me. This was our first HM together. Bill and his family really need our prayers. They have good days and bad days right now. I know that Bill would not mind me telling everyone this is it gets the word out and everyone help by praying.

Some of us from work have gotten together and are having a yard sale at work this weekend to benefit Zack. We have gotten several local companies to donate things that we are going to raffle off. It is wonderful how the community is coming to our help. Zack was asked if he could do anything what would he like to do. He said he would like to go in a airplane or on a cruise. We are working on getting him to a airshow in Florida this month. The director said if we were able to get him there that there are several pilots that would take him up for a ride.

Please pass this around and help with a prayer chain. Remember that all prayers are heard no matter how short or long they might be. Thank you for your time of listening to me and helping us to try and heal a young man to be able to reach his full potential in life.

Please pass this around
